Google's New Parameter Tool

Googl ehas luanched a new tool to enable owners of sites which have multiple URLs pointing to the same content, to avoid duplicate content issues. This will be particularly useful for sites with multiple product pages, for instance, where a product can be accessed by session ids or with product options (eg /toys/plane?colour=blue&size=large and /toys/plane/affid=346 etc).

You can now tell Google to ignore specific parameters such as session ids, which will then help Google to find just one version of the page in its search results.

The new Parameter Tool is accessible in Webmaster Tools>Dashboard>Site Config>Settings>Parameter Handling.
